Kick-off Meeting in Gjilan!

Heimerer College, in partnership with eight local and international organizations and institutions, funded by the European Union’s Erasmus + Program, is setting up the country’s first Multidisciplinary Center for student health practices.

The purpose of establishing this Center is to increase the teachers’ and students’ competencies in the areas of rehabilitation in Kosovo, enabling practical education in Health and Rehabilitation Sciences through Life-Long Learning (LLL), in accordance with the Bologna process and cooperation with stakeholders on health and rehabilitation institutions, ministries and industry.

As the first project of its kind in Kosovo, this Center defines the foundations of the concept of Joint Rehabilitation Management, Multidisciplinarity, Patient Involvement and Rehabilitation Management.

This Multidisciplinary Center will provide strategic partnerships between four institutions, the Ministry of Education, Science and Technology of Kosovo, Heimerer College, Metropolia University and the University of Gjakova, where as a result of this partnership will be created a new Innovation Center for Kosovo, for students and health professionals, which will provide new pedagogical approaches and collaboration triangle between relevant actors.

The implementation of this project will be done through networks, workshops, study visits, regional study districts, reflective seminars and pilots, where the context, knowledge exchange and practice-based learning will take place. The main target groups are higher education institutions that provide rehabilitation / health education and staff and students that provide rehabilitation / health services.

At the same time, this center will help increase the Research and Innovation Capacities based on the best experiences and practices of Higher Education Institutions.

The official launch of the project will take place on January 21, 2019, at 10:00 at Kadri Zeka University in Gjilan.

This project is funded by the European Union’s Erasmus + Program and includes a consortium of 9 partners, including 6 local and 3 European partners. There are 6 institutions of higher education, 2 non-governmental organizations and 1 ministry.

Heimerer College since 2010 offers study programs in health sciences at the bachelor level, such as Nursing, Speech Therapy, Occupational Therapy, Laboratory Technician and Professional Pedagogy in Health and Master in Management of Institutions and Health Services. Heimerer College is the only institution that offers such medical fields of study in the country and region, thus being pioneers of new professions in the country.
